Jillian Polaski, LMFT

(She/Her)

Jillian provides telehealth & in-person appointments in Meadowlark’s North Liberty Building #2.

Jillian is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Mt. Mercy University, and she also holds an MFA in writing from the University of Iowa.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Jillian studied and taught personal narrative writing for many years. She found that what she loved so much about writing was the process of making meaning out of life, and weaving that meaning into stories. She views therapy as also being a storying process, one that can help us better understand that the stories we tell ourselves are not the only possible ones we could be telling ourselves. She views the therapy process as a way to help us make sense of life experiences and our place in the world in healthier, more adaptive ways.

Jillian has experience working with trauma, adoption, blended families, couples, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. She works with children and adults. Her approach to treatment includes narrative therapy, collaborative therapy, play therapy, art therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, and mindfulness interventions.

In her spare time, she likes to read, write, knit, bake with her kids, and go for walks.

At Meadowlark, we’re here to help.
